Travel in Sicily, winter 2009

Day 5:

January 1! New year starts badly, knocking on the motorhome we wake up, open the bay in front of me the 2 guards parking official badge prominently tell me that it "divieto camp"!

Because I'm stupid and in bad faith, I do not understand a word, not the bowl, they'll repeat the same thing in French, FORBIDDEN TO CAMPERS!

Well, well, one calm, one is January 1, Be Kind, we knew not, (and it's true)
have lunch, we washed and goes,,,
NO, subito! (I translate it, eh, you understand,,,)

Ok, we're not going to take the lead on a day like today, it folded and decamp, but I leave the dog who gets impatient,

Once outside I see them discussing more courteous, they are reassured, they leave their car, I conclude therefore that the site is open and asked where to park to visit just now, answer camping!
And where is he?
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,,, I do not understand, but apparently far enough, can be closed? and I do not feel like typing more miles on foot end of discussing,

We leave the scene, there is another car park across the site, perhaps they will be more welcoming?

Hey no! No more! Even less nice indeed, too bad, we saw the temples far, day or night, they will not have my euro z'ont to provide a proper home!

You start to find a place more welcoming for breakfast, corner we find the tiny village of Rossello on the seafront,

We left to go by road to the sea for Marinella, in the hope of visiting the ancient site of Selinunte,

We arrived for lunch at Selinunte, the site is huge with the temples and the agora, we find the restaurant that we failed yesterday, excellent meal of fish,

After the meal we take a ride on the little port and will take our tickets for the tour, 2 camper vans parked in the parking lot, but no way to know if we can spend the night,,,

Selinus is great Acropolis with temples, including B which is the best preserved, we make the turn, Jeremy climbed onto the altar and then we take the motorhome after visiting the temple to reach the car park of the acropolis located further inside the site, then we baladons amidst the ancient city is great for lovers of ancient sites, it is pure happiness

Starting again we filled the drains and the toilet block located on the parking of funds is provided for us well!

Branch now Marsala and more specifically its salt marshes that we reached in the late afternoon,
But the wind picked up, it blows hard and the road along the salt is swept by heavy seas, yet the height of the pool water makes only about twenty centimeters, awesome!
This attraction for the locals to see the number of spectators who flock there,
In these marshes along you reach the salt from Trapani and famous mills that use the wind to pump water from ponds, salt piles are covered with tiles to protect them from wind ubiquitous here

We drive to the tip of the tower San Teodoro, Stagnone faces the islands that form a natural barrier,

A large parking lend themselves well to camp, made today the wind is too strong at this point,

Parking on the edge of marshes had attracted our attention, we return, this will be our bivouac for the night near the mills,

Day 6:

The wind blew all night and the rain came to mingle, but this morning the sky is clear, the temperature is slightly decreased,
This car is quiet this season, we leave after breakfast for Trapani, parking for our aircraft is registered in the city center in the GPS

It's actually a great place without shade that is reaching out to the edge of the pedestrian area of the old town, well situated for visiting,

We start by street north side, but the wind is still strong and the waves breaking violently on the walls, spattering the streets and sidewalks,
We are therefore entering the main street up to the mayor, is a pedestrian street, a terrace is reaching out for morning coffee,

Trapani is a city located on the tip of the peninsula, the ancient port city of Erice, it has the air of Cadiz with its ramparts and narrow streets,
Many beautiful churches all over each other punctuated our trip, we visit a few, we also buy pottery, hand painted in a workshop, memories for us and the family
Back through the port and hydrofoil services to the islands Egadi,
Check for the cable car which takes us directly to 750 meters above the entrance to the city of Erice, but again no luck, closed because of wind!
We take the car for lunch, then it is a small winding road with magnificent views over Trapani we reach Erice

Erice, successive Phoenician, Greek and Roman is located 750 meters high on a hill overlooking Trapani and Egadi island,

The wind we have denied the mounted cable was nevertheless beneficial sweeping the clouds that frequently clog the view from the top of the mountain, so I took the opportunity to take photos in all directions,

We traveled streets, visited the "Chiesa Matrice" bought like any good tourist souvenirs and some after that trip we took the direction of one of the pearls of Sicily, the site of Segesta and its famous temple

Segesta, a jewel placed in his casket amidst gentle hills, the temple appears as the visitor, it is true that the Greeks had a knack for choosing the beautiful sites

Once the ticket is taken announces that the bus that runs between the temple and the amphitheater hand in 5 minutes, then we will begin the visit by the upper town and the theater, damage to the pictures of the temple, the sun beginning to decline

The bus takes a break in court who can rise to some pictures of the temple, then takes us to the Acropolis,

The ancient theater is in good condition, it is indeed still for performances in summer, the view from the top is magnificent, the sea is near,

After a half hour we'll get down and walk to the temple, he is there, majestic, imposing, in very good condition too, it became the emblem of Sicily, and it deserves!

It's getting late, we have reached the parking area camper Palermo, we take the motorway nearby and it was around 19pm that we enter in Palermo
The area of green park is in downtown Palermo, the GPS pilot us through the busy streets of the town, we miss a street course and it puts us in a wrong way street! 2 blocks away we find the right direction, but we are in the historic center, streets where parking cars anarchic prevents passage is "hot", but Palermo's are nice, they help us pass the camper is still 7.40 m long!

Here, "you came" said the lady in the box, yes, but where?
Not the slightest trace of entrance parking in this street! Neither before nor after!
Another error statement coordinated research I address this parking in my papers, that I have, programming the GPS is next to a street below, whew!
Yes, but one-way streets blocked by cars stopped in the middle, turn round

Finally, there is the entry saved!

Home Keeper nice, there are still vacancies, however, a good thirty campers this Saturday evening, the Italian travel!

Go, put on hold, you plug in the running for the second time since the beginning, and tomorrow we visit Palermo!
